History

Established in 1997 as the Lewis Property Group to manage the commercial property interests of Cecil Lewis and his various partners, the firm’s portfolio has grown to include industrial, commercial and retail properties in Cape Town, Johannesburg and the Garden Route.

After Cecil’s passing in 2004, the firm’s management was assumed by David Lewis. In 2010, David was joined by his long-time friend Ryan Goodman and The Granite Group was formed.

Today the The Granite Group has three integrated real estate platforms (Private Equity, Financial Services, Property Services) designed to meet the commercial property needs of high net worth investors, commercial property owners and investment groups.

Principals

David Lewis (Managing Director)

David developed his passion for property and gained valuable local experience in commercial property management over the last ten years at Lewis Property Group. After taking over the company in 2005, he complemented his skills with specialist private equity client servicing and real-estate deal-making and structuring. David acquired a Bachelor of Business Science Degree (Fin. Honours) from the University of Cape Town.

Ryan Goodman (Managing Director)

Ryan has 15 years experience in property finance, investment, funds management and private equity. He has held senior positions at Lehman Brothers and Westpac Funds Management in Australia and worked at several real estate investment firms in the U.S., including Colony Capital and Capital Trust. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of New South Wales.
